The State of Greed

The wealthy

got tax cuts, yachts.

The poor

lost hours and got evicted.

Blamed AI.

Barons, robbers

drank in restaurants.

Inner-city folks

caught no breaks.

BREAKING NEWS

ticked across the screen.

The West

sent the poor to war;

Northrop cashed in.

Blood dripped

from secret votes—

politicians' hands stained.

Rich kids went Ivy—

profited from stocks.

Men condemned,

busted shots in Tehran.

Missed the target—

a daughter hit.

Whose enemy was she?

She survived.

Moral supremacy

waved over Capitol Hill.

Banner played,

soldiers knew:

a river of blood.

A man bounced his daughter

off his knee.

The girl he shot visited.

With her family,

they ate together.

Their faith

different,

their values

not far off.

In uniform,

they wanted the other dead,

now,

they wish each other the best—

worth more than tax cuts.

Wicked people

corrupt the union,

their state.
